We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Technical Recruiter & HR Generalist to join our StratumAI. This individual will play a pivotal role in scaling our technical talent acquisition and establishing effective HR processes as we expand globally. You will oversee specialized technical recruiting, develop onboarding systems, and provide critical HR support to guide the company's growth.

This position is remote-first, with a preference for applicants based in Canada.

Our proprietary neural networks produce 3D maps that optimize mining operations, helping companies reduce costs and increase production of minerals needed for our society to function. You will help us locate the right talent and help to retain and make them successful at StratumAI.

Role Responsibilities

Technical Recruiting:

  • Develop and execute talent acquisition strategies for specialized ML, data science, and software engineering roles.
  • Source, screen, and evaluate candidates with advanced mathematical and technical competencies.
  • Administer technical screening processes including custom assessments.
  • Coordinate and improve the technical interview process, working closely with engineering leadership.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of candidates with specialized skills, particularly in ML engineering.
  • Leverage and expand our existing talent networks at University of Waterloo and University of Toronto.
  • Support international recruiting efforts across Australia, Middle East, and South America.

HR & People Operations:

  • Design and implement scalable HR processes including onboarding, performance reviews, and employee engagement programs.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions and concerns.
  • Create documentation and playbooks for key HR processes.
  • Support the development of compensation and benefits strategies.
  • Assist with designing career development frameworks.
  • Help establish and maintain company culture across remote teams.

Role Requirements

  • 5+ years of technical recruiting experience, with demonstrated success hiring for ML/AI or highly technical roles.
  • Experience building and implementing HR processes in a fast-growing environment.
  • Strong technical understanding allowing you to evaluate candidates for specialized technical roles.
  • Experience with behavioral and technical interview techniques.
  • Knowledge of HR best practices and Canadian employment standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams.
  • Experience working with remote and international teams.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience in the tech or AI industry.
  • Knowledge of the Toronto/Waterloo tech talent market.
  • Familiarity with HR and recruiting tools and platforms.
  • Experience with international hiring and compliance.
  • Background in computer science, engineering, or related technical field.
